Whether to participate in politics has always been the poet's two different attitudes towards life in poetry creation.Tang Shisheng(1551-1636)combined these two attitudes towards life: he not only has the idea of participating in politics because his hearts and minds is full of the people in the world,and he also worrise about the country.For instance,when he was flooded in his hometown,he has been rushing around to ask people for help.Take another instance,he has always made some officials and helped them solve some difficult problems.All of things he does has already demonstrated his military talent and let someone knew it.And when he facing the friends who went out to be officials,the poets wrote poems for them to bid farewell.In these poems,the poets also showed their ambition to build up a good foundation for the country.At the same time,he is still an unfettered person who dares to let go of everything.He also doesn't want to participate in politics,he possessed the spirit of being unconventional,as he resolutely gave up the imperial examinations in his early years and dedicated himself to ancient studies.For example,he became a friend with monks and Zen masters,and studied Buddhism with them.Also like when he was writing poetry,he could express such unique emotions and praises to the changes in the world.Therefore,Tang Shisheng,a poet who can combine these two attitudes and can form his own unique poetic style,is admirable.He is sincere,open-minded and free-spirited,and his poems are also characterized by his true emotions,his writing skills,the seemingly weak but deep things,and the concise and straightforward writing characteristics of his writing.As an important writer and scholar of the Jiading writers of the Ming Dynasty,he inherited the literary thoughts of Jiading scholars such as Gui youguang in the creation of poetry.With his own study and comprehension,he formed his own unique poetic features.Whether it is his poetry or his personality,he was able to be outstanding.At that time,he had changed the vulgar atmosphere of poetry there.He also provided references for people writing poetry in later generations.Therefore,his poetry is worth exploring and should not be buried.
