| The academic discussion of corporate social responsibility began in the United States in the 1950s.With the increasing globalization, the economic activities of various countries in the world are increasingly dependent on each other, and corporate social responsibility has begun to be an international vocabulary and research object.Attract scholars and practitioners from different cultures and backgrounds to participate in the discussion. As the world’s second largest economy,China is in a critical transition period. Both the"Belt and Road" and the "Made in China 2025" national strategy are facing huge economic and social challenges. The globalization of the economy means the globalization of responsibility. The success of the Chinese economy and enterprises in the future will not only need to rely on their own national conditions and traditions but also need to actively absorb advanced experience and lessons in the context of different systems, and have a more international perspective. This paper will explore the French experiences by focusing on the following questions:First,if the United States laissez-faire institutional traditions give companies considerable discretion, and thus gave birth to the company’s voluntary commitment to social responsibility and enhance the community.Well-being,then what kind of CSR is the result of France’s economic coordination model featuring state intervention?Second, with the continuous development of globalization, how has the original corporate social responsibility practice been developed? What changes in content and form? What is its driving force for development? What is the practical situation of this new CSR?Third, the development model of this French model may bring enlightenment. The paper will examine the course of changes in the social responsibility of modern French companies with a dynamic and development perspective.Investigate the relationship between French companies and society, and analyze how companies can assume corporate social responsibility. From the end of World War Ⅱ to the 1980s,the content of French corporate social responsibility is mainly about the relationship between labor and capital in the internal dimensions of the enterprise and the social responsibility of the legalization of labor security.During this period, public power, including legislation and judicature, was institutionally guaranteed. This feature was mainly determined by the traditional French institutional factors. Therefore,it can also be called traditional CSR.In the era of globalization from the late 1980s to the present, the corporate social responsibility in France has gradually evolved in a voluntary manner, similar to self-discipline.Its content has also shifted from a narrow sense of labor relations to a broader social dimension and an environmental dimension of sustainable development.Extensions.The promoters participating in this stage of development not only come from China, but also rely on the national government of France as the main driving force,as well as the synergistic effects formed by the participation of the international community,non-government organizations and traditional stakeholders. The traditional mandatory features continue to be preserved to some extent, and at the same time, voluntary initiatives and practices, including unpaid charity, are rapidly developing. The paper analyzes the macroeconomic system, the environment of the legislative system, the public power and the governance model of the state, presents the social environment in which French companies depend, examines the reasons for the formation and development of French CSR in different historical periods, and examines mandatory CSR and voluntariness. The limitations and challenges of the application of CSR in specific practices, including the state of practice and resistance of large enterprises and SMEs,and the correlation between the CSR development model and the national governance model,as well as the enlightenment from the French experience. |
