Purpose:We conduct a systematic review aiming to evaluate the association of Primary Sjogren's Syndrome with depression and to discuss the prevalence and/or severity of depression in pSS patients and healthy controls.We expound the psychological status and problems of pSS patients in China.Our findings suggest that rheumatologists should pay more attention to the potential mental comorbidities while managing patients with pSS.It is hoped that better evidence can be provided for the application of psychological intervention in patients with SSMaterial and method:We search Medline,Central,Embase,PsycINFO,CINAHL,ClinicalTrials.gov,OpenGrey and CBMdisc databases to find the published literatures(from these databases established to January 2019)of depression in pSS at home and abroad.The whole process of literature screening,quality assessment and data extraction are carried out according to the criterion.We use data form to extract the primary data from the included studies and use Review Manager 5.3 software to analyze the data finallyResults:Twenty-nine eligible studies consisted of 16002 patients are analyzed.The result reveals that pSS is associated with an increased prevalence of depression(OR=3.33,95%Cl:2.84-3.89,Z=14.96,P<0.00001).The depression scores are higher in pSS patients than in controls(SMD=0.96,95%CI:0.75-1.17,Z=8.95,P<0.00001)Conclusion:Our study demonstrates a greater prevalence of depression in pSS patients.The prevalence and severity of depression in pSS patients are worse than in healthy controls.
