| Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Huoxue Yangyin Jiedu Decoction combined with western medicine symptomatic treatment on the treatment for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma after radiotherapy,and to provide clinical mentality for treatment of Xerostomia and improve the quality of life of patients with nasopharyngeal after radiotherapy.Methods: 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided to two groups according to the principle of stochastic parallel control(treatment group and control group),including 30 cases in the treatment group and 30 cases in the control one.Patients who did not insist on medical examination and treatment were excluded in the process of observation: 4 cases in treatment group 5 cases that in control were excluded,respectively.The effective number of the treatment group and control group were 26 and 25 cases.The treatment group were given Chinese herbal medicine,Huoxue Yangyin Jiedu Decoction combined with western medicine symptomatic treatment,and the control group were treated with western medicine symptomatic treatment.Eight weeks is one period of treatment.Main outcome measures including the VAS score,TCM syndrome score,KPS score and adverse drug reaction in two groups before and after treatment were observed and analyzed.Result:(1)Oral dryness improvement: After treatment,the clinical efficacy of two groups was evaluated.In treatment group,5 patients were cured,10 were markedly effective,8 were ineffective,and no aggravated cases.The total effective rate was 88.46%(23/26).In the control group,1 patient was cured,4 was markedly effective,10 was effective,11 was ineffective,and the total effective rate was 60.00%(14/25).The two groups were tested by Kruskal-Wallis test,P<0.05,and the difference was statistically significant.After treatment,the VAS scores of the both groups were lower than those before treatment.The VAS score of the treatment group was 36.08±2.12,and the control group was 45.11±3.21.The treatment group decreased significantly compared with the control group,P<0.05,with significant statistical meaning.In terms of dry mouth,hydration diet,sleep quality,compared with the control group,the VAS score of the treatment group decreased significantly,and the difference was statistically significant.In addition,the VAS scores of the control group in water carrying,hydrating diet and dental health decreased little,the difference was not significant.It indicates that the treatment group program can effectively improve the patient's oral case.(2)In terms of improving TCM Syndromes: After treatment,both groups have improved their TCM syndromes after treatment.The syndrome score of the treatment group was 6.07±2.96 and the control group was 13.59±6.16.The score of TCM syndrome in the treatment group was significantly improved in contrast to that in the control group.The treatment group was markedly effective in 13 cases,effective in 10 cases,and ineffective in 3 cases.The total effective rate after treatment in the treatment group was 88.46%.The control group was markedly effective in 1 case,effective in 8 cases,and ineffective in 16 cases.The total effective rate of the control group was 36.00%.The effect of the two groups after treatment was compared by rank-sum test,P<0.05,and the difference was statistically significant.Specifically,the treatment group was superior to the control group in improving the symptoms of taste,dysphagia,sore throat and dry stool.It is indicated that both groups can improve dry mouth symptoms in improving TCM syndromes,but the treatment group is more effective than the control group.(3)Comparison of KPS scores: the total effective rate of the treatment group was 84.61%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 64.00%.The quality of life of the treatment group was increased by 18 cases,stable by 4 cases,and decreased by 4 cases.The quality of life in the control group was improved in 8 cases,stable in 8 cases,and decreased in 9 cases.The KPS scores of the two groups were compared by rank sum test,P<0.05,and the difference was statistically significant.(4)In aspect of adverse reactions: There was no significant adverse reaction in the two groups in the course of clinical session.Conclusion : Huoxue Yangyin Jiedu decoction combined with western medicine symptomatic treatment is equivalent to western medicine symptomatic treatment in the short-term curative effect of nasopharyngeal after radiotherapy,but Huoxue Yangyin Jiedu decoction combined with western medicine symptomatic treatment shows better curative effect than western medicine symptomatic treatment on reducing VAS score and salivary drugs,improving saliva secretion,TCM syndromes and KPS score.It indicates that Huoxue Yangyin Jiedu decoction combined with western medicine symptomatic treatment has a certain effect on treatment of nasopharyngeal after radiotherapy,and provides a clinical mentality for the treatment of Xerostomia. |
