Observational Study On Understanding Of Type A Botulinum Toxin Between Doctors And Patients In Public Hospitals

Background:Botulinum toxin is a bacterial exotoxin produced by botulinus during the process of growth and reproduction,at present it is known as the most toxic biological toxin in natural toxins and synthetic agents.Botulinum inhibit of acetylcholine release by neuromuscular junction,result in the reversible paralysis of the muscles,acting on the autonomic nervous system then inhibit the secretion of glands and the release of acetylcholine from postganglionic neurons,can relax smooth muscle,and blocking the release of medium such as substance P and glutamic acid,so as to play pharmacological action.In 1978,Doctor Alan scott first success application of botulinum toxin in clinical treatment of strabismus,after that,widely used in aesthetic plastic surgery field,In recent years,with deeper in development of basic and clinical research on botulinum toxin type A,the botulinum type A toxin have remarkable treatment effect for mant specialist diseases,and its indications are also expanding and updating.Clinicians should fully grasped the action principle,indication,contraindication and complication of botulinum toxin,using the new theory and practical research achievements of type A botulinum toxin,combined with the characteristics of the disease in professional department,provide reasonable and high quality service for the patients,especially in the field of disease treatment,to provide a new,safe and effective treatment options for patients As patients with the indications for botulinum toxin,should improve cognition for action principle and adverse reaction,and active coordination doctor thereby get the best treatment effects.It also has important significance for further development and clinical application of botulinum toxin type A in the future.PURPOSE:This study through the questionnaire survey of the clinicians and patients in Shenzhen People's Hospital,explored the understanding and application status of botulinum toxin to clinicians and patients.METHOD:Combination of theoretical research and empirical analysis.Through conduct questionnaire survey with doctors and patients in eight related clinical departments of Shenzhen People's Hospital.RESULT:1.All clinicians have heard of botulinum toxin,The clinicians fully grasped the action principle come from the department of plastic surgery,dermatology and neurology.2.Botulinum toxin have higher frequency of clinical application in the field of plastic surgery and the nerve disease than the other specialities.3.The principles,indications,contraindications and complications of botulinum toxin well controlled in the department of plastic surgery,dermatology and neurology.4.The understanding of the action principle of botulinum toxin come from outpatients of plastic surgery and dermatology.5.Patients have different understanding of the adverse reactions or side effects of botulinum toxin before and after treatment.6.Patients have high satisfaction of treatment with Botulinum toxin.7.Introducing of Botulinum toxin from relatives and friends are the major ways patients hear of botulinum toxin.8.The public medical institutions are the major options of patients treated with Botulinum toxin.CONCLUSION:1.Botulinum toxin have higher frequency of clinical application in the field of plastic surgery and the nerve disease than the other specialities,The principles,indications,contraindications and complications of botulinum toxin well controlled in these department.2.Patients have different understanding of the adverse reactions or side effects of botulinum toxin before and after treatment,they have high satisfaction of treatment with Botulinum toxin.
