Background China is one of the countries with high incidence of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(HICH),which has high morbidity and disability, for the location of bleeding in always in the deep brain tissue.HICH is caused by complex pathogenic mechanisms, but genetic factor plays an important role in the susceptibility to HICH,of which the two leading risk factors are lipidmetabolic disorder and atherosclerosis.Lipoprotein lipase(LPL)is,the key enzyme in lipidmetabolism,a kind of protein with most genetic mutations, which may make lipidmetabolism abnormal and influence levels of blood pressure. There have been more than 110 kinds of mutations in this gene,in which the Hind III polymorphism in intron 8,has been reported in the Chinese Zhuang population, but never in relationship with intracerebral hemorrhage in the Chinese Han population. Objective To explore the association of lipoprotein lipase Hind? gene polymorphisms with lipidmetabolism in HICH patients among the Chinese Han population in Shanghai district. Methods The lipoprotein lipase Hind III genotypes were detected by PCR-RFLP and analyzed by sequence analysis in 267 subjects, including 120 cerebral hemorrhage patients and 147 controls. The serum lipids and glucose were detected in all subjects. Results The T allele in HICH group was 90.8%,G allele 9.2%,whlie in control group was 82.3%,17.7%respectively.Compared with the ratio of G allele in control groups,it was lower in HICH group(x~2=7.338,P<0.05).The frequency of the GG+GT genotypes were lower than that in the controls(?~2=8.030,P<0.05).The levels of serum triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, glucose, systolic pressure, and diastolic pressure in HICH group were higher than those in the controls(P<0.05).The level of serum triglyceride in TT genotype group were higher than in the GG+GT genotype(P<0.05).The Hind III G mutation correlated significantly with cerebral hemorrhage(OR=0.417,95%CI:0.193-0.901)after all subjects were adjusted by age and the history of hypertension and hyperglycemia. Conclusions Hind III G mutation plays a good role in the metabolism of triglyceride.Hind III G mutation of the LPL gene may be a genetic marker for lower risk of cerebral hemorrhage.
