Oral cancer is the fifth the world’s top ten cancer.Although treatment modalities, including radiotherapy or a combination of surgery and chemotherapy or radiotherapy, have been used for oral cancer patients, the five-year survival rate is still very low.In the words of the European Journal of Cancer Prevention,"Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to improved patient survival." Due to many diseases of the oral cavity are accompanied by changes in oral mucosa structure and vessel, the ability to perform high resolution diagnostic imaging is therefore crucial to the detection and treatment of these diseases. The vitro detection method is the traditional method, which not only cause patients with pain, but also demonstrate some harm to the body. Therefore,it is urgent to be used in the detection of oral cancer in a way that is harmless and does not cause the patient’s pain.Optical coherence tomography(OCT)is a new modality capable of cross sectional imaging of biological tissue.Due to its many technique advantages, such as noninvasive, nondestructive, high image resolution, high speed imaging capabilities,OCT is potentially useful in various medical applications for in vivo,real-time,noninvasive imaging of biological tissue.3D printing is any of various processes used to make a three-dimensional object, providing high flexibility and low cost for various areas such as industry, medicine, and electronics. In this paper,we combined swept-source OCT system with a specially designed probe with advantages of movable and miniaturization printed by 3D printing technique to image the structural and vascular of oral mucosa for early diagnosis. The three-dimensional structure and the optical design and simulation of the oral scanning probe were designed by SolidWorks and Zemax software. The modular design is divided into the main body and the probe. With such system,we obtain structural images by scanning lip,lip mucosa, tongue and buccal mucosa over health personnel. And then use the mean of 3D scanning mode to make the structural and vascular imaging of oral mucosa. Moreover, with 3D printing technique, the cost of OCT system can be greatly reduced and the flexibility of the design can be greatly enhanced for early clinical detection, diagnosis, screening, and monitoring of oral precancer and cancer.
