Research On The Design Of Orthogonal Glulam (CLT) Building Units

In the context of the continuous development of China's construction industry and the promotion and support of government,the prefabricated buildings have become more and more popular and an important direction for future architectural development.At present,the commonly used prefabricated structure in China are prefabricated concrete structure,steel frame structure and precast reinforced concrete structures.Cross Laminated Timber(CLT)is a new engineering wood product with great potential in the field of fabricated construction.In recent years,CLT has become a mature building technology in some developed countries in Europe and America,it was been widely used and even partially replaced reinforced concrete and brick-concrete structure in various residential and public buildings.The UK is the forefront of the application of CLT technology.I have been studying in the UK for a year during my postgraduate study and experienced the application of CLT building there.I want to explore how to apply and develop CLT technology in China by study the development of CLT in the UK.In terms of theory and practice,by summarizing domestic and foreign literature and manual specifications and researching the completed projects,combined with prefabricated building technology and regional research,using CLT technology to design a CLT café in the campus of Shenzhen University.Based on the prefabricated technology and the direction of the design application of CLT buildings,this dissertation was divided into four parts: the first part,the concept and characteristics of CLT buildings were summary through the research of existing literature and finished projects.The second part,compare the development process of CLT buildings in China and the UK,summarizes the opportunities and challenges for CLT buildings.The third part explores the key points of CLT building design under the climate and environmental conditions in Shenzhen area.The fourth part,combined with the previous content,design and built a CLT coffee shop that meets the climate of Shenzhen.At the end of the dissertation,the suggestions were provided for push the development of CLT technology in China through the research and interviews of relevant scholars and practitioners.
