A Preliminary Study Of Wang Jide's Aesthetic Thoughts On The Structure Of Classical Operas

Wang Jide is one of the most important figure in Chinese classical theater arts theory field.With his magnum opus <Qu Lv>,a master work which collect most of the theories of Chinese theater arts in late period of Ming,he had summarized various problems of creation and criticism in Chinese theater arts filed.Hereinto,Wang Jide's exploration on classical Chinese theater structure theory marked an important turning point: Chinese classical theater theory transformed from “QuXue-centered” to “JuXue-centered”.This thesis mainly focuses on five aspects.The introduction explained the meaning and current situation of Wang Jide's classical Chinese theater structure theory.And divide the period of Chinese classical theater structure theory development.In Chapter one,based on the <Qu Lv> the author teases out Wang's theories of arts and puts out the concept of “Chinese theater structural aesthetics”.In chapter two,the author refines the aesthetic viewpoints about Chinese theater structure from <Qu lv> and explains the theory in holism,the layout and the viewpoints of fabrication and truth.In chapter three,the author studies the features of Wang Jide's Chinese theater structural aesthetics,and puts the structures of scripts,music and performances together to show the uniqueness of Wang's viewpoints in four aspects: the organic whole of drama and music,the relationship between music and situation,the relationship between narration and lyric and the rhythm of theater arts.In the epilogue,the author shows the meaning of the study in con temporary context and finds the perfect match point of traditional Chinese theater arts theories and contemporary Chinese theater creations in both classical sprit and independent personality.Generally speaking,centering on the related viewpoints this thesis teases and constructs the aesthetic ideology of Wang Jide's classical Chinese theater structural aesthetics and makes a contribution to the study of the structural aesthetics of classical Chinese theater arts.
