Band saw is the important mechanical processing equipment in the wood processing industry and furniture manufacturing industry,which has fast cutting speed,low wood ullage and high outturn percentage.It mainly completes the sawing of log blanks,the cutting of board materials and the processing of various semi-manufactured wooden products.However,the traditional band saw exists the disadvantages such as poor quality sawing stability,low degree of automation,low safety.To solve the above-mentioned problems,a new CNC woodworking band saw is designed.Firstly,on the basis of sawing process of machine tool,the principal sawing parameters of band saw are studied.According to the ensemble design requirements,the overall specifications and structural concept are determined.On this basis,the mechanical system of band saw is designed,which mainly includes sawing transmission system,rotating work bench,saw blade tensioner and saw blade guide system.Research and accomplish the structural design,threedimensional modeling of the components.Secondly,the frame is designed.Under the requirement of structural strength,the number and size of stiffened plates are reasonably multi-objective optimized by Isight.The strength,stiffness,natural frequencies and mode shapes of the frame are obtained by studying the dynamic and static characteristics with ANSYS.Analyse the dynamic and static comfortable working area,fingertip trajectory of human body based on ergonomics.The shape and dimension design of machine case,operation panel and work bench are optimized.Then,through the analysis of machine-tool functional control requirements,the electrical components of system are determined.The signals of tension sensor,pyroelectric sensor are processed by PLC.The circuit design and programming are accomplished.Touch screen is installed and human-computer interface is designed to complete sawing settings,parameter display to simplify the operation process.Finally,the installation,debugging and sawing experiments of the NC woodworking band saw prototype are completed.Experiments show the bevel sawing is stable and the quality meets the expected design objectives.The width of sawing path is reduced by about 0.3mm,and the automation is improved.It provides a theoretical reference for the follow-up research and development of the CNC woodworking band saw.
