Research On Sweet Potato Dust Explosion Based On Response Surface Method

As one of the most important food crops in the world,there are a lot of explosive sweet potato dust in the process of production and processing.However,few studies have focused on explosion of sweet potato dust.In this paper,the explosive characteristics of sweet potato dust were discussed by using 20 L spherical explosive device,and the affecting factors including particle size,mass concentration,ignition delay time and ignition energy were studied at the same time.Based on the model of response surface method,relationship of the influencing factors of dust explosion and the most explosive combination of different factors were established.Specific research contents and results are as follows:Study on effect of particle size showed that as the particle size varying from 150 mesh(91 ?m)to 500 mesh(13 ?m),the maximum explosion pressure increased with the increasement of particle size of sweet potato under low concentration,and the effect was obvious.But the explosion pressure showed increase first and then decrease with the increasing of particle size at high concentration.Study on effect of dust concentration showed that the maximum explosion pressure of sweet potato dust increased at first and then decreased with the concentration increasing from 100 to 1500 g/m3,and the maximum explosion pressure was obtained at the concentration of 1300 g/m3.Study on effect of ignition delay time showed that the optimum ignition delay time changed with dust concentration,and the optimum values at the dust concentration of 200 g/m3?500 g/m3 and 800 g/m3 were 80 ms?100 ms and 100 ms respectively.Study on effect of ignition energy showed that as the ignition energy varying from 2.00 kJ to 10.00 kJ,the maximum explosion pressure increased with the increasing of ignition energy.The response surface methodology was used to design the experiment,and the results were brought into the software simulation,the relationship of the above factors on the explosion of sweet potato dust were obtained as dust concentration>dust particle size>ignition delay time=ignition energy.The simulation showed that dust explosion had the greatest intensity with the particle size of 400 mesh(32 p.m),the concentration of 800 g/m3,the ignition delay time of 100 ms and the ignition energy of 2.00 kJ.Based on the above research contents and results,the paper discussed the safety measures of sweet potato dust explosion,and the concrete prevention and protection measures regarding dust concentration and particle size were recommended.
