Applying DMAIC To Improve The Finished Goods Inventory Turnover

In the general consumer goods manufacturing industry,in order to satisfy consumer demand,an enterprise should maintain reasonable amount inventory of finished goods.Inventory turnover is a core index to measure whether the inventory management level is good or bad,but there has few methods to improve inventory turnover,and mostly are based on the experience of the enterprises,so it has practical meaning to research on effectively increase inventory turnover.This thesis based on the case of S company from electric bike industry,propose to use Six Sigma DMAIC method to improve inventory turnover,through define,measure,analyze,improve and control,base on the operation data of the factory,conduct scientific data analysis,systematically solve the rationality of finished product inventory,increase turnover of finished goods.Practice proves DMAIC method concentrate on customer demand,this method accurately find out the inventory turnover of finished goods is the key point of the question,and after taking use of the data measured during manufacturing operation processes,get the analysis conclusion that the key factor to influence inventory turnover is the finished goods inventory of last month and the stock quantity of this month,then improve aim at problems separately,finally control and solidify the improve achievement of former stage,able to increase the inventory turnover of finished goods effectively.This thesis integrates the research of Six Sigma DMAIC method and inventory turnover,during project practice,improved the finished goods inventory turnover from 2.24 times to 3.65 times,increased 3 million 280 thousand Yuan of liquidity for the factory,and improved customer satisfaction.Expect this research can provide reference for enterprises to improve the inventory management level under the Made-To-Stock(MTS)production mode.
