In order to obtain more full-scale strategic resources for innovation and maximize their profits, enterprises increase interactions and collaborations with other organizations, and the degree of dependence between them is gradually increasing.Universities and research institutes also strengthen collaboration with organizations such as enterprises so as to better realize the commercialization of their scientific and technological innovation, absorb social funds in the external environment and keep pace with changes in the market. The exchanges and cooperation among the innovation subjects have become more and more frequent, and a cooperative mode of Industry-University-Research Cooperation(IURC)has gradually emerged.Over time, the model of IURC has shifted from a simple point-to-point linear model to a point and line to plane complex network model.Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Network(IURCIN)has the advantages of information sharing, risk sharing, and cost reduction. It is the best model for solving the problem of technological innovation under the changing background of the market environment. It makes full use of the innovation network to acquire resources to promote the improvement of its own innovation performance. It has become an inevitable choice for enterprises to carry out open innovation, and has also become the only way for the development of universities and scientific research institutions, which has been unanimously recognized by the domestic theoretical and practical specialists. This paper is based on “Key Industry Patent Information Service Platform”,explores the evolution of the cooperation network of the IURCN in the automotive industry of the Yangtze River Economic Belt according to cooperation patent application, and the impact of network characteristics on the subject's innovation performance.Firstly,it analyzes the patent applications of the automobile industry in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and four phases of the development of its IURCN,including fluctuation incubation period, stable growth period, rapid development period and active innovation period. Then the network characteristics such as network density, clustering coefficient, and centrality are made the analysis in detail.Based on this,Ucinet statistical tools and NetDraw visualization tools areused to analyze the evolution of network characteristics from the following four aspects:network topology, network clustering, node centrality, and core sub-networks.Secondly,Stata software is used for regression analysis to explore the effects of node centrality and structural hole constraints, cooperation breadth and depth of cooperation on innovation performance. At the same time, control variables such as the degree of innovation activity, per capita GRP,and R&D expenditure intensity were added.Research results show that: The degree of intermediate centrality and structural hole restriction has the positive effect on the main innovation performance in the IURCN.What's more, the breadth of cooperation has the significant positive effect on the main innovation performance in the IURCN in the automotive industry of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. There exists the U-shaped relationship between cooperation depth and subjects' innovation performance in the IURCN in the automotive industry of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Finally, the degree of innovation activity has the significant positive effect on subjects' innovation performance, but the per capita GRP and R&D expenditure intensity have no significant effect on the performance of different subjects in the overall network.
