Research On The Influence Of Internet On Urban And Rural Residents' Income

From the beginning of 1990s,the information and communication technology represented by the Internet(ICTS)began the rapid development,one can create unlimited information era prelude.The rapid development of the Internet is not only a technological revolution,but more importantly,the Internet is a powerful social、ecnomic、cultural force,which has brought fundamental changes to people's way of life and social development.Internet informatization has a positive impact on the effective circulation of information,the application of new technologies,and the improvement of human capital.Xi Jinping,the president of the state,paid great attention to the Internet information and made an opening speech at the second and third Internet Conference held in China and pointed out that China attaches great importance to the development of the Internet in the rapid development of information and emphasizes the active utilization and scientific development of the Internet economy and the promotion of information benefiting people.We should promote the equal respect,innovation and development,openness and sharing of the Internet,as well as safety and order,and create the destiny community of cyberspace.However,according to the data published by the China Internet Information Center(CNNIC)in January 2017,the Internet popularity rate in urban and rural areas in China is 69.1%and 33.1%,respectively,and the gap is obvious in December 2016.Does the digital divide between urban and rural areas bring new inequalities to the income of urban and rural residents?Through the analysis of the impact of Internet use on the income between urban and rural areas,it will be of great significance to the real realization of opportunity equality and information sharing in the Internet economy and society.At present,most of the research on the Internet is focused on the study of economic growth and enterprise development from the macro or middle level,and the literature of urban and rural personal income is quite rare.This paper summarizes the influence mechanism of Internet usage on Residents' income through a comprehensive review of relevant literature research and the comprehensive use of relevant economic theory,and discusses how the Internet uses the income inequality between urban and rural residents.The empirical study selected CFPS2014 survey data,through the stepwise regression method,the tool variable method to improve the income level of the Internet and the income of residents to the urban and rural residents' income,and used the tendency score matching method to do the robustness test.The empirical results show that Internet use does improve the income of residents in China,but there is a significant difference in the return on income of urban and rural residents.The income rate of urban and rural residents is obviously higher than that in rural areas.By further analyzing the purpose of urban and rural residents' use of the Internet,it is found that the ways in which rural residents use the Internet to improve their income are compared.Urban residents mainly rely on improving their working efficiency,while urban residents raise their income by improving their working efficiency,improving their personal social capital and relying on business activities.Therefore,compared with previous studies,this study has made a marginal contribution from the following aspects:first,it enriches the study of the impact of Internet use on the income of individual microentities in the era of network economy.Secondly,it enriches the factors that affect the income gap between urban and rural areas.From the gap between urban and rural residents' access to the Internet and the gap of the ability to use the Internet,this paper examines the impact of Internet use on the differences in urban and rural income distribution.Third,it provides a scientific basis for promoting information equality and sharing in the Internet economy.The results show that the difference of income and return between urban and rural use is not only caused by the Internet access gap,but also there are significant differences in the ability to use the Internet information and the ability to appreciate the Internet.Therefore,the government should pay attention to the Internet in the process of popularizing the Internet.At the same time,we can enhance the local people's ability to utilize and appreciate Internet information.
