The Empirical Study On The Core Competitiveness Of China's Paper-making Enterprises Under The Background Of A Low Carbon Economy

From the “12th Five-Year Plan” to the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan,” the state has increased the control and prevention of environmental pollution and has made efforts to reduce the emission of pollutants.Laws and regulations such as the "Cleaner Production Promotion Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution Caused by Solid Wastes",and the new "Environmental Protection Law" has been officially implemented since 2016,made stricter requirements on environmental standards.Chinese enterprises must seize every opportunity to vigorously promote scientific and technological progress through independent innovation and the introduction of foreign advanced technology,promote industrial upgrading,adjust the economic structure,change the mode of development,and seize the high ground of low-carbon development of papermaking enterprises.Therefore,studying the competitiveness of papermaking enterprises in China in the context of the low-carbon economy is of great significance to the sustainable development of papermaking enterprises in China and the improvement of the ecological environment.In the specific research process,this article first reviewed the research progress on the low-carbon economy,enterprise competitiveness theory,evaluation index system and research methods at home and abroad;based on the theory of low-carbon economy,combined with the status quo and existence of the development of paper-making enterprises in China.We selected the data from the 2014-2016 years of seven listed papermaking enterprises in China as a sample and used entropy method and Topsis method to measure the competitiveness of sample papermaking enterprises from three aspects of the economy,environment and resources,and conducted papermaking enterprises comparative analysis.Based on the analysis results and the actual situation of our papermaking enterprises,the government,industry associations,and companies have put forward the suggestions for improving the competitiveness of China's papermaking companies in the context of the low-carbon economy.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:First,under the low-carbon economy background,environmental competitiveness has become an important factor affecting the core competitiveness of China's papermaking companies.Through the analysis of this paper,it is found that the core competitiveness of China's paper-making companies is mainly affected by economic ability in 2014.The environmental competitiveness indicators designed according to the features of low-carbon economy in 2015-2016 have significantly affected the overall ranking of papermaking companies' core competitiveness.Second,the level of science and technology and human resources capabilities have an important impact on the promotion of the core competitiveness of China's papermaking companies in the context of a low-carbon economy.The results of this study show that both the level of reaction science and technology and the weight of indicators of human resources are at the forefront.This shows that there is a large gap between the level of scientific and technological R&D and human resources capabilities of paper-making enterprises in China,and companies ranked lower need to improve their R&D and human resources capabilities.Close the gap and increase the core competitiveness of the company.Third,to increase the concentration of China's paper industry and maximize the use of resources will enhance the company's core competitiveness.According to the results of entropy weighting,the ranking of economic indicators is tilted from profitability and solvency to development capacity and operational capacity,indicating that papermaking companies in China are promoting mergers and acquisitions under the support of state policies.It can be seen that the small papermaking enterprises with backward and surplus production capacity have been eliminated,while the market share of large and medium-sized papermaking companies is increasing.Comparing with the statistics of the National Bureau of Statistics of China,the number of papermaking enterprises above designated size also confirms the conclusions of this study and illustrates the scientific and objective nature of the study.This paper hopes to provide a reference for China's papermaking companies to develop a low-carbon economy,thereby alleviating the pressure of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by paper-making companies,protecting the pressure on resources and the environment,reducing costs,enhancing the core competitiveness of enterprises,and achieving the strategic goals of sustainable development.
