A Feasibility Study Of Restoring BRT In Kunming From Multiple Perspectives

Due to the rapid development of urban economy and the rapid growth of population,urbanization and motorization are speeding up,in China,many cities,especially large and medium-sized cities,are almost faced with some problems,such as traffic congestion,traffic inefficiency and environmental pollution,etc..Most of the current urban traffic conditions have posed a great threat to the safety,property and living environment of the traffic environment,however,the traditional solution is to build roads,but no matter which city,the space becomes smaller and smaller,and there is no more land resources to provide the road for construction.But the disadvantage of BRT is that it can make up for it.BRT system is a new mode of transportation,which has been rapidly promoted both at home and abroad.Kunming is the first city to open and operate BRT in China,but because of the policy and other reasons,it closed the operation of BRT,and the reasons are obviously various.This paper will analyze the reasons of Kunming city bus BRT shutdown from the aspects of policy and economy,and analyze the urban passenger flow to predict the necessity and feasibility of Kunming city bus BRT recovery in the future.As for whether to resume BRT operation,it can provide reference for the decision-making of Kunming municipal government.This paper first introduces the BRT system and its characteristics,and analyzes its role in urban public transport.Then,the paper analyzes the conditions for the city to run BRT.There are four aspects:urban scale,economic factors,road space resources,urban structure,etc.Secondly,the paper also introduces the evolution process of BRT in Kunming,and analyzes the deep reasons of BRT from the construction,prosperity to the end of the operation from the multidimensional perspectives of economy and policy.Third,the paper also analyzes the current traffic situation in Kunming.Summed up the city now encountered traffic problems and corresponding solutions.Finally,in order to demonstrate the necessity and feasibility of restoring BRT in Kunming,the traffic characteristics of BRT and the problems faced by Kunming city are combined together,the final conclusions are as follows:it is necessary and feasible to operate BRT in Kunming.It can provide reference for the decision-making of Kunming municipal government.
