Abstract/Summary:
With the occurrence of a series of food safety and environmental pollution accidents, the neglect of corporate social responsibility during the development process has been revealed. The far lower scores of the social responsibility report and the reduction in the number of reports all indicate the problems in the disclosure and management of social responsibility information. The commitment of enterprises to social responsibility is not only the internal demand for the development of the enterprise, but also the foundation for their well-being,and it is also the expectation and demand of the modern society for the enterprise. The SASAC,the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges have successively issued a series of CSR guidelines aimed at regulating corporate social responsibility behavior. As an important non-financial information, the CSR report can reflect certain audit risks, affect the auditor's assessment of risks, and then affect the formulation of costs and premiums, and have a certain impact on the audit fees.As a hot topic in the audit field, audit fees have also been receiving widespread attention. The CSRC has issued requirements for the mandatory disclosure of audit fees, and is also designed to urge certified public accountants to conduct effective supervision work and safeguard the interests of stakeholders. This paper discusses the impact of disclosure of corporate social responsibility information on audit fees from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. The current research on social responsibility and audit fees is mostly based on the study of social responsibility and audit risk, audit risk and audit fees. Many scholars do not distinguish between the status of social responsibility performance and the disclosure status of social responsibility information. They also use indicators for evaluating the report to measure the degree of fulfillment. Therefore,it is very necessary to study the impact of disclosure of social responsibility information on audit fees. This paper analyzes the mechanism of auditing the social responsibility information disclosure based on the perspective of risk premium and cost efficiency.A total of 3305 data from listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2014 to 2016 are selected as research samples, and the RKS score is used as a measure of social responsibility. The indicators of disclosure status, taking the natural logarithm of domestic audit fees represent audit fees, and descriptive statistical analysis of major variables.Using multiple regression models, the impact of social responsibility information disclosure on audit fees was analyzed. The research conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)With the other conditions unchanged, the disclosure of social responsibility can significantly affect the audit fees, that is,the issue of social responsibility reports will increase the audit fees.(2)Under the other conditions unchanged, the level of disclosure of social responsibility information is significantly positively correlated with audit fees. The higher the social responsibility rating score, the higher the audit fees charged by the company. Finally, some policy suggestions are put forward to improve the level of disclosure of social responsibility information and improve the audit fee system.
