In the era of knowledge economy where science and technology are developing rapidly,almost all industrialized countries in the world are making great efforts to develop technological innovation.The diversification of market demands has led to more instense market competition and increased pressure on enterprises' innovation.In order to make gain a sustained competitive advantagein the market,enterprises should promote product upgrading through technological innovation.At present,the level of innovation of manufacturing enterprises in our country is not high.At the same time,the innovation ability also needs to be improved.How to effectively utilize heterogeneous resources for innovation has become one of the most urgent problems to be solved.Under the traditional management mode,the enterprises rely on "going it alone" or "joint competition" with other enterprises in the same industry.However,as the product market becomes more and more complicated,the drawbacks of this model are gradually exposed and the enterprises begin to turn their attention to the supply Chain management direction.As an important external stakeholder for suppliers and customers,the heterogeneity of their resources may become a potential driving force for enterprise innovation.Therefore,modern enterprises are gradually turning to seeking close with suppliers and customers,and strive to create a competitive advantage in the supply chain as a whole.So,for the current popular trends of the cooperation between the supply chain business,what kind of relationships between the concentration of suppliers or customers and business innovation ? If there is an impact,what is the specific mechanism of influence? At the same time,when enterprises are in different market positions,is the impact of supply chain concentration on enterprise innovation the same? These problems are all worth discussing.This article enters into the perspective of supply chain management,taking the2007-2016 CSI A-Share Listed Manufacturing Company as a research sample,focusing on examining the effect of supply chain concentration on corporate innovation and itsmechanism.The study found:(1)The basic analysis shows that there is a significant negative relationship between supplier concentration and business innovation,while customer concentration shows a significant positive impact.This shows that the concentration of suppliers will inhibit the innovation of enterprises,while the large clients will have an effective promotion effect on the innovation of enterprises.(2)The exploration of mechanism channels finds that the existence of specific investment in the relationship between companies and suppliers will increase the company's operating risks.In order to control the risks of enterprises within a certain range,managers will often reduce their investment in innovation,which is the so-called relationship trading risk path.;For large customers,it through close contact with suppliers to communicate product demand information and technology knowledge,stimulating the innovation of enterprises.That is the path of information feedback and the path of knowledge spillover;(3)Investigating the regulatory effect of the firm's market position on this relationship,we found that compared with the middle or lower enterprises in the industry,the restraint effect on the innovation caused by the moderate increase of the merchants are less significants in the higher enterprises.Meanwhile,the promotion effect of the customer concentration on the enterprise innovation will be strengthened.This shows that the impact of supply chain concentration on enterprise innovation is different for enterprises in different market positions.This study not only broadens the scope of research on enterprise innovation but also makes up for the shortage of previous research on supply chain perspective.At the same time,it provided guidance for enterprises how to make full use of external heterogeneous resources to improve their own innovation through supply chain management.
