Study On The Influence Of Internationalization Of China's Food Safety Standards On The Intensive And Extensive Margins Of Agricultural Trade

With the continuous development of international trade,the developed countries implemented stringent food safety standards in order to protect the health of their residents and their agricultural markets,which greatly influenced on Chinese agricultural exports to them.It especially impacted on our labor-intensive agricultural products which have traditional comparative advantages,such as aquatic products,vegetable-fruit,tea,etc.With the deepening of Chinese agricultural opening up,the value of agricultural products exports is also increasing,Although agricultural trade develops rapidly,there also exists some problems.Chinese agricultural products such as vegetable-fruit group is competitive,but competitiveness is declining.The inhibiting effect of the imoprts strict food safety standards is an important factor to it,the big food safety standards gap between China and Codex is also a factor that can't be ignored,therefore studying Codex food safety standards,Chinese food safety standards and the food safety standards gap between China and Codex has great practical significance to our agricultural exports.Based on a lot of literature materials,the article combines qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,uses gravity model to analyze Codex food safety standards,Chinese food safety standards and the influence of the food safety standards gap between China and Codex to our agricultural exports.This paper first explains the meaning of food safety standards and the relevant theoretical basis;then the article analyzes the basic situation of Chinese agricultural trade as well as the food safety standards system between China and Codex;finally it combining theoretical and empirical analysis first analyzes the action mechanism and trading effects of food safety standards,then focusing on fruit products,uses Stata12.0 software to empirical analyze 10-year(2006-2015)panel data of 104 import countries.The final results of the analysis show that the total population of the import countries promote Chinese agricultural exports;the stricter Codex food safety standards are,the more obvious it makes to inhibit our fruit exports is.The stricter Chinese food safety standards are,the more obvious it makes to promote our fruit exports is.However,the bigger food safety standards gap between China and Codex is,the greater inhibiting effect it makes to our fruit exports.Finally,this article puts forward some suggestions to deal with food safety standards from three levels that are government,industry and enterprise.
