Development Of Science Tourism In Fangshan Global Geopark

Tourism for Popular Science is an important part of the tourism industry,and also is an important window of a country demonstrating the economic strength and the degree of civilization.Geological park tourism is a new bright spot of tourism development.With the rapid and sustained growth in the national economy and the improvement of the overall level of China's economy,geological science park Tourism plays an increasingly important role in the tourism industry,to effectively promote regional tourism economic development,for the traditional tourism industry to give a new vitality.Fangshan Global Geopark is rich in geological heritage resources,and contains a huge potential for tourism development.By far,however,due to the back warded management system,low level of development,improper marketing strategies,fierce market competition and other factors,the development of popular science park tourism still has many problems,which need to be studied carefully.This thesis introduced the research background and demonstrated the theoretical significance and application value from the aspects of national economic development,change of visitors' concept,science tourism booming and the value of the geological park,to clarify the thesis content and priorities.Comprehensive analysis had been utilized in this study,which includes literature data analysis,interviews,investigation and comparative analysis to discuss the Fangshan Global Geopark tourism development.Furthermore,from the comparison of the development and its trend between domestic and international popular science tourism,we found our popular science tourism-related research is still in a low level in terms of the depth and height of theoretical studies.Therefore,this study is of necessity and significance.Through comparative study of domestic and international concepts and theoretical basis,this thesis introduced the status of the development of the world geological park in China,and illustrated the characteristics of China's science geological park tourism,thus enriching and developing the significance and value of geological science parks.SWOT analysis model theory,system theory,sustainable development theory and innovation theory served together as theoretical basis of this paper,laying a solid theoretical foundation for dialectically discussion about the development of popular science tourism in Fangshan Global Geopark.Field research,expert interviews and literature analysis have been conducted for a detailed investigation of Fangshan Global Geopark tourism resources.This study introduced the basic situation,location and transportation,natural environment and economic development,and summed up the types of science park tourism resource,also analyzed the diverse types,wide distribution,and unique characteristics of tourism resources in Fangshan Global Geopark.At meanwhile,the characteristics of resources in the eight parks of Fangshan Global Geopark have also been introduced.Based on the fact that tourism activity has become a regular consumer,this paper utilized SWOT analysis model theory to analyze the advantages and opportunity,disadvantages and challenges,in terms of resources,location,brand and industry environment,the integration strategies of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei,as well as management system,marketing models and promotional channels,product development,and market competition,consumer demand,and conservation and development of geological parks.Strategically,we suggest that Fangshan Global Geopark should employ its advantage,overcome weaknesses,exploit opportunities and avoid potential threat.According to SWOT analysis,Fangshan Global Geopark has unique advantages in resources,convenient location,strong brand,and good external environment,and the booming of popular science tourism as well as the integration strategies of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei will promote the advantages;at the same time,the analysis also reveals the back warded management system,powerlessness of propaganda and marketing strategies,low level of product development,and other disadvantages.Besides,threats also exist,such as fierce market competition,diversified demands of tourism consumers,conflicts between convention and development of parks.According to this situation,following proposed development strategies are included in this paper:(1)relying on the unique advantages in resources,target market segments and focus on developing differentiated products;implement the strategy of quality popular science tourism to improve the content of science and realize the value of tourism to the maximum;establish a multi-level system of science tourism products,and develop new tourism elements,to promote transformation and upgrading of tourism product structure.(2)taking advantage of a strong brand and establish a standardized and efficient travel information highway;carry out popular science tourism marketing on Internet and provide service online to create a three-dimensional marketing model.(3)relying on convenient location advantages,establish a unified visitor service center;standardize the identification system and interpretation system,and optimize the development of the layout structure,to create science tourism industry cluster,and promote the comprehensive development of the park.(4)making good use of opportunities for development,improving relevant laws and regulations;implementing participatory system;establishing early warning mechanism for travel security,scientific management,and flexible decision-making.(5)leveraging the development of the industry,strengthen science tourism personnel.(6)adhere to both the development and protection of the interests of the current and long-term interests of co-ordination,increase public education,and take effective measures to strengthen the protection of geological heritage in the development process,to achieve harmonious development between human and nature.
