Research On The Application And Influence Of Artificial Intelligence In News Production

With the continuous development of the fifth-generation mobile communication(5G),big data,cloud computing,Internet of Things,artificial intelligence(AI) and other technologies,mobile media will enter a new stage of accelerated development,and mobile Internet has become the main channel of information dissemination.AI technology has entered many important fields of social life,especially the news media industry,which is pushing the media industry into the intelligent era.This will reshape the news media format and promote the comprehensive reform of the journalism industry,including all aspects of news production,such as information collection,content production,product distribution,presentation form and user participation mode.Thus,it becomes the key factor to the transformation and value enhancement of the traditional media industry.The introduction and application of AI technology will be indispensable in the development of the future news media industry.News production under the influence of AI may become a disruptive innovation in the news media market.Therefore,it is necessary to study the applications and impacts of AI technology on news production.Thus,this paper focuses on the analysis and studies of the applications,impacts,problems and coping solutions of AI in news production.Using literature review and case analysis methods,the preliminary research results have been obtained,which have a certain practical significance.The main content of this paper is divided into seven parts shown as below.The first part is mainly about research background,research significance and reviews of domestic and foreign research literature.At the same time,the research methods of this paper are briefly introduced.The second part focuses on the reshaping of traditional news production environment by digital and intelligent technologies,including news production and digital media,intelligent development of media and analysis of changes in news production environment.Through comprehensive elaboration,the impacts of new technology on the traditional news production environment are given.The third part focuses on the application of AI in news production.Emphasis is placed on the diversification of application functions and production forms with AI in news production.UAVs,robot reporters,virtual reality and blockchain are the main AI technologies in news production applications.Besides,data journalism,robotics journalism,sensor journalism,mobile short video news,and immersive journalism are typical forms of AI-powered news production.The fourth part analyzes the news production platform and news content represented by Xinhua News Agency's MAGIC short video intelligent production platform.Besides,the impacts of AI on news production in a broad sense and some findings as well as reflections are explored.The fifth part expounds the two-sided influences of AI on news production,including the positive & negative impacts.With AI,it is possible to make news information sources intelligent,news content customized,news planning and push personalized and audience cognitive experience situated.But it also brings some social problems,“screaming effect”,“information cocoons”,tool rationality & news value contradiction,limited application areas and fake news.The sixth part mainly elaborates the coping solutions of news production problems under the influences of AI,including policy guidance and supervision,strengthening social governance in cyberspace,integrating dual checkpoints of human-machine collaboration,improving privacy protection mechanisms,clarifying ethical structures,optimizing news design mechanisms,and improving media literacy,etc.The seventh part is the conclusion.It mainly summarizes the research content of this paper,and also briefly analyzes the shortcomings of this paper and the areas to be improved.In short,AI technology is widely introduced into traditional news production and shows multiple effects.However,comprehensive research is rare and still needs to be improved.This thesis focuses on solving this problem.Through comprehensive research,several characteristics of multiple effects of AI on news production are shown.Namely,they are the diversification of application functions & production forms,specialization of professional influence,socialization of problems,and multi-dimensional of coping solutions.Through this study,it is expected to provide a more comprehensive theoretical analysis and practical reference for the deep application of AI in the field of news production in the new era.
