Sound is an essential element for enhancing the realness of virtual world.Sound rendering has always been a research hotspot in the field of virtual reality.Fluid animation,such as explosion,fire,water,and so on,is a common visual phenomenon in virtual scenes.To synthesize real sounds for these scenes is of great research value for enhancing the reality of virtual environment.Currently,there are some remarkable works on the synthesis of fluid sound,such as fire,water,etc.However,little attention has been paid to synthesizing explosion sound.This paper focuses on the sound synthesis of explosion animation and interactive explosion scenes.First,this paper proposes an automatic synthesis method for the sound realistic simulation of explosion animations.This paper mainly studies the synthesis method of the sound corresponding to the two main phenomena in the explosion process,namely,the explosive sound corresponding to the fireball phenomenon and the combustion noise corresponding to the combustion phenomenon.Based on sound examples and related parameters obtained from physical animation,we synthesized these two types of sound in two stages,respectively.For the synthesis of explosive sound,according to the dynamic change of fuel consumption in the production process of explosion animation,the occurrence and duration of explosive sound can be determined,so that the explosive sound matching the fireball animation can be extracted from recording examples based on the high-frequency content.For the synthesis of combustion noise,a new method of combustion noise synthesis based on timbral similarity is proposed in this paper.According to the timbral characteristics of low-frequency explosion sound synthesized by physical method,we select sound grains similar to its timbral from the constructed sound corpus and synthesize a complete combustion noise.Finally,relying on the occurrence and duration of the explosive sound,the two types of sound are blended to obtain a plausible explosion sound.In addition,considering that the sound of rigid body fracturing is often accompanied by the interactive explosion scene,this paper proposes an interactive explosion animation sound synthesis method.Interactive explosion scenarios usually include explosion phenomena and object breakage.In this paper,the two phenomena are treated as explosion events and fracture events,and explosion sounds and interactive feature sounds are synthesized for them,respectively.For the synthesis of feature sound,firstly,the Empirical Mode Decomposition is used to extract feature sound from recording examples.Then,a grain segmentation method based on spectral flux is used to construct a feature grain dictionary,and a cascade sound synthesis method based on impulse response is designed to reconstruct the feature sound synchronized with the fracture event.In addition,this paper proposes a priority-aware sound blending method,which can blend the sound corresponding to the two events reasonably,and obtains the compelling sound results of the interactive explosion animation.
