With large numbers of sensor technology and the development of wireless portable devices,body area network has gradually become the focus of people's attention.Wearable antennas,as key components of information transmission in wearable devices,have broad application prospects in military and medical fields.With the development of modern wireless communication technologies,the diversification of people's communication needs has led to the coexistence of multiple technologies and standards due to,which has increased the demand for dual-band or multi-band antennas in wireless communication systems.This paper designs three dual-band wearable antennas around two communication methods(on-body and off-body)of body area network.The main work is as follows:At the same time,due to the popularity of various wireless communication technologies,the diversification of people's communication needs has led to the coexistence of multiple communication technologies and standards,which has increased the demand for dual-band or multi-band antennas in wireless communication systems.1.A dual-band monopole for on-body application is proposed.First,a broadband monopole antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide is designed.Then,a wide stop band is introduced in the broadband range by etching a U-shaped slot and an S-shaped slot on the patch and feed line,respectively.The dual-band characteristic is thus achieved.The measurements showed that the antenna operates in the 2.4/5.8 GHz band and the omnidirectional radiation patterns are produced in both frequency bands,which can meet the requirements of on-body application.2.A dual-band monopole antenna for off-body application is proposed.The dual-band operation is realized by etching an S-shaped slot in the ground plane of the polygonal monopole antenna.In order to reduce the back radiation of the monopole antenna and generate a broadside radiation pattern,a dual-band electromagnetic band-gap structure is placed under the antenna.The measurement results show that the antenna operates in the 2.4/5.2 GHz frequency band and the broadside radiation are generated in two frequency bands,which are suitable for off-body application.3.A dual-band dual-mode button antenna for on-body and off-body communications is proposed.The dual-band characteristic is realized by two different radiating elements on two layers.The lower band is produced by the short-circuited ring-shaped patch and the upper band is generated by the lantern-shaped patch.A dielectric super substrate is placed above the antenna to improve the gain at lower band.The measurements showed that the antenna operates in the 2.4/5.8 GHz band,and the omnidirectional and broadside radiations are obtained in the lower and upper band,respectively.It can meet the needs of on-body and off-body applications.
