This work aims to develop a tunable femtosecond optical parametric oscillator with long-term output stability to meet the demands in applications in quantum optics,which plays a key role in developing a compact facility used in correlated photon pairs generation.The relationship between the output stability and cavity length of synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator is closely correlated.Most of the synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator being reported are free running,however,the cavity length is always disturbed by many factors,such as the fluctuation of the pump,the disturbance of the cavity mirrors,the variation of the temperature and airflow from external environmental.In this letter,we built a tunable femtosecond optical parametric oscillator,and the characteristics of output stability was studied.The output stability of the oscillator was improved by two different locking methods,respectively.The main work of the dissertation can be divided as follows:1.A high average power Yb3+doped femtosecond fiber laser amplification system was built.The amplification system consists of a Yb3+doped femtosecond fiber lasers,a polarization maintained fiber amplifier based on chirped pulse amplification technology,a pulse compressor.the whole system was then integrated into a box and a water-cooling system was assembled.2.The tuning curve of output wavelength with respect to the poled periods and temperature of a periodically poled lithium niobate based optical parametric oscillator was simulated.3.A periodically poled lithium niobate based optical parametric oscillator was built.The output signal spectra and average power with respect to the crystal periods,temperature and cavity length was studied.4.The output characteristics of the femtosecond optical parametric oscillator was studied,the output stability was im proved by implementing the wavelength locking method and power locking method,respectively.the effects of the two methods on improving the average power stability and wavelength stability was compared.5.In addition to improve the output wavelength and power stability of an optical parametric oscillator,the cavity length tuning methods can be also used to locking the repetition rate frequency of a mode-locked lasers.We built a repetition rate frequency locking system based on a fiber delay line,by using the electronics feedback loops,the repetition rate frequency of a mode-locked Er3+fiber lasers was locked via the system,the power density spectrum of the residual timing jitter was also measured.
