Volume rendering technology is a visualization method that can comprehensively display information and is widely used in scientific computing to display data content.However,in the current volume rendering technology,the process of designing the transfer function is tedious and not intuitive,and the design efficiency is not ideal.This paper aims at the rapid design of the transparency transfer function in the scalar field data volume rendering.According to the similar physical characteristics of the approximate vertices of the scalar field values,by clustering and batching all vertices in the data field,combining the gradient distribution of the data,the transparency parameters are generated automatically,the design process of the transparency transfer function is improved adaptively,and experiments are performed to verify its effectiveness.The specific adaptive method of generating volume rendering transparency transfer function is as follows.First,a hierarchical clustering method is used to construct a clustering tree based on scalar 3D grid data.The threshold of the number of clusters is automatically determined by analyzing the elbow-point of the merging distance.Then calculate the gradient distribution information of the data to generate its internal transparency parameters for each cluster.Finally,adjust the transparency of each cluster in combination with user needs,and generate a global transfer function for volume rendering.Comparing with the design method of the transparency parameter in the existing visualization tools,the result of experiment shows that this adaptive method not only changes the traditional manual setting of the transfer function,improves the parameter setting efficiency,but also improves intuitiveness and fidelity of the display in numerical simulations,and improves the drawing effect in volume rendering.Therefore,the adaptive method of generating volume rendering transparency transfer function in this paper has a good engineering application prospect.
