The advantages of Mobile Ad Hoc networks,which are rapid deployment,strong resistance to destruction and high mobility,make them widely used in disaster relief,military and civil communication fields.Consequently,it has become an important research direction for mobile wireless communication technologies.On the other hand,the wireless channels feature broadcast,time variation and susceptibility to interference,so a mobile Ad Hoc network,which is controlled in a distributed manner,must face a huge challenge to achieve the end-to-end information transportation with high bandwidth efficiency.Firstly,three main kinds of error control schemes currently used in data link layer are introduced and analyzed.The ARQ scheme is selected in our design of TDMA Ad Hoc network due to its simplicity.Since the traditional ARQ protocol cannot use the broadcasting characteristics of wireless channel effectively,a large amount of channel time is used for the transmission of those dedicated acknowledge frames.This fact must result in a low network throughput,especially in a multi-hop scenario.Therefore,a new efficient error control protocol that is more applicable to a multi-hop TDMA Ad Hoc network,MARQ,is proposed.It can help receiving nodes acknowledge multiple data frames from multiple nodes simultaneously,which improved throughput.Furthermore,the performance of MARQ in different time slot allocation scenarios is analyzed.The performance in these scenarios is improved by using time slot allocation constraint,queue scheduling and carrier monitoring.Finally,the MARQ is simulated on the OPNET platform.Compared with the stop-and-wait ARQ,the simulation results show that MARQ has higher throughput and lower frame access delay.However,the packet access delay may be higher in some scenarios.Then,the performance is improved in these scenarios by using time slot allocation constraint,queue scheduling and carrier monitoring.The feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method are verified.
