Polar coding, proposed by Professor Ar?kan in 2009,is a new type of error correction coding scheme. It is the first coding method that can be proved to achieve the Shannon limit.Because of the advantage of low complexity of its encoding and decoding method, polar codes have attracted the attention of many scholars at home and abroad.Ground-to-Air communication refers to the communication between the ground and the air vehicle, which is a special case in wireless communication.Ground-to-Air communication is not only vital in the civilian sector, but also plays an important role in the military field.According to the characteristics of Ground-to-Air Channel, this paper studies the Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO)and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)technologies.A Ground-to-Air communication system based on MIMO-OFDM is established. In the MIMO system, the Space-Time Block Code(STBC)is mainly studied. The performance simulation of polar codes in MIMO-OFDM system is given in the paper. This paper studies the application of polar codes in Ground-to-Air communication systems. The work as follows:(1)Analyzing the characteristics of Ground-to-Air Channels. We determine the channel model, according to the characteristics of Ground-to-Air Channels. In this paper,we select three models including Gaussian Channel model, multipath Rayleigh fading Channel model and multipath Rician fading Channel model, according to different flight states of the aircraft.(2)In order to combat the effects of multipath effects and Doppler shift,a MIMO-OFDM Ground-to-Air communication system is established. In the next work, determine the program parameters is necessary. In the MIMO system,we use STBC as the coding scheme. The transmitter has two antennas and the receiver has one antenna. In the OFDM system, the number of FFT / IFFT sampling is 128.(3)The construction method and decoding algorithm of the polar codes should be determined. The MonteCarlo construction method is choosen as the construction method. We use the CRC-Aided Successive Cancelation List(CA-SCL)decoding algorithm as the decoding algorithm. After determining the construction method and the decoding algorithm, the polar codes are applied to the MIMO-OFDM Ground-to-Air communication system.(4)We analyze the performance of polar codes in three different channels and then compare the effects of different code lengths and different decoding methods on the performance of polar codes.Under three channels respectively, comparing the decoding performance of polar codes with code length 1024?2048 and LDPC codes with code length 1296 ?2304.Under three channel models, the performance of polar codes has advantages and disadvantages compared to the LDPC code. Therefore, the polar codes can be combined with the LDPC code in the Ground-to-Air communication system by combining the advantages of polar codes and LDPC code.It can be seen that it is feasible to apply the polar codes to the Ground-to-Air communication system.
