With the rapid development of Internet technology, the concept of cloud has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and its application reflects in all aspects of life.As a basic application supporting cloud computing, the importance of server virtualization is quite clear.Virtualization technology refers to the usage of hypervisors running on top of physical server,to abstract physical resources into different virtual resource pools and to reallocate resources to virtual machines.Virtualization technology can reduce the waste of physical resources and improve the utilization of hardware devices tremendously. At the same time,it brings other problems, saying, the efficiency of virtualization performance and the performance isolation of VMs.VMs running in the same hypervisor share resources of the same physical server,as many VMs running in the same server at the same time, the performance of VMs must have mutual influences. The effect could be illustrated in two ways: firstly, when multiple VMs having the same type of workload, how much will its performance decrease;secondly, when multiple VMs having different types of workload, how will they affect each other. Most existing research focus on single type of workload performance of open source hypervisor. There is almost no research on Hyper-V hypervisor and its virtualization performance. This paper starts from the practical application of enterprise-level Hyper-V virtualization, including specific configuration methods of physical server, hypervisor and VMs.The paper firstly designate a performance baseline of physical server and template VM.Then by using a semi-automated experiment process designed in the paper, performance tests are conducted under two circumstances mentioned above. All the results are recorded and analyzed, correlation coefficients and isolation coefficients of different workloads are calculated. The paper aims to provide information of virtualization performance and workload isolation of Hyper-V for those who is running or plans to deploy Hyper-V hypervisor.
