With the further development of mobile communication services and Internet technologies,mobile users have higher requirements for the response speed of Internet services,but the current mobile communication network architecture can not meet this requirement.The proposed Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)provides a practical and effective solution to this problem.Compared with traditional mobile communication network architectures,MEC deploys a large number of servers that provide storage and computing functions in the vicinity of mobile users.By sinking servers to the edge of mobile networks,MEC can effectively reduce the response time of Internet services.However,MEC resources are limited,so it is impossible to respond quickly to all requests from mobile users.Because of the dynamic nature of mobile user requests,it is challenging to study the joint problem of content caching and resource provisioning in MEC.Thus,we propose a new algorithm framework to solve the joint problem of content caching and resource provisioning in MEC.Firstly,we propose Joint Design of Content Caching and Resource Provisioning,the purpose of which is to rent a server to build MEC,and to maximize the system's service while minimizing the system's provisioning cost.Joint Design of Content Caching and Resource Provisioning consists of two steps: the first step is to use the unexpired resources to maximize the total system service,the second step is to minimize the system's provisioning price while responding to the mobile user's remaining requests.Secondly,we also design an iterative version of Joint Design of Content Caching and Resource Provisioning.Compared with Joint Design of Content Caching and Resource Provisioning,the iterative version requires a longer running time,but it performs better in system performance.Finally,we further propose Design of Caching and Routing Balancing.The design is lightweight and can be frequently executed as a co-algorithm of Joint Design of Content Caching and Resource Provisioning and its iterative version.The purpose is to dynamically adjust the system's cache placement and request routing to maximize the total system service.The experimental results show that compared with the existing traditional cache placement algorithm,the proposed algorithm framework can significantly improve the system's service volume,effectively reduce the total system rental cost,and control the system's average response delay within a relatively acceptable range.Moreover,the joint algorithm has strong robustness when dealing with dynamic mobile users' requests and has practical application value.
