In conventional stereopsis, the depth could be computed based on the binocular disparity corresponding to the position of matching points in the two eyes.It the more common to see one object occluded by another which would give rise to monocular visible interocular unmatched points. We refer to this matched points as the binocularly matched information and the unmatched points as binocularly unmatched information. There is a key question on how to use the binocular matched and unmatched information to perceived depth in occlusion scene, which could further improve the stereo computation of artificial vision.Previous research found that the quantitative depth of a subjective occluding surface could only be perceived when binocularly matched information is presented along with temporal interocular unmatched(IOUM)information. However,it is still not clear whether the way that binocularly matched information is presented would affect the quantitative depth perception. In the present study we aim to answer this question by manipulating the separations between binocularly matched and IOUM information in spatial and temporal domains. In Experiments 1 and 2,temporal IOUM information was presented at different spatial separations from the matched information along horizontal and longitudinal axes, respectively. In Experiments 3,the binocularly matched information was temporally separated from the unmatched information. The results from all three experiments showed a robust effect of binocular information in generating quantitative perceived depth from IOUM information under the range of 7.5±1.5 deg(horizontal separation),18.2±7.1 and-14.2±4.4arcmin(depth separation)and 486.3±108.8(presentation time difference).Besides, the perceived depth of the subjective surface can be significantly influenced by spatial separations, both horizontally and in depth. This research found a robust quantitative influence of binocularly matched information on perceived depth resulted from temporal interocular asynchrony, which provided the significant experiment results on quantitative depth perception from binocularly matched and unmatched information.
