Nowadays,videos become more and more popular,and people are demanding better video quality and higher definition,which promotes the video technology making higher-resolution videos.But it raises a problem: the digital video data is getting bigger and bigger.In order to transfer the video under the condition of limited bandwidth,the video data must be compressed and encoded,otherwise it is difficult to have enough bandwidth and storage devices to transmit and store these data.Therefore,the international standards for video coding have emerged.The video coding international standardization organization has been constantly studying new video coding methods.Every few years,there would be a new generation of video coding standards issued.Recently,with the development of the computer image technology,the screen content coding(SCC),which is based on screen content,has been developed.Then a new HEVC-SCC video coding standard has been formed.In this paper,the new tools and algorithms in HEVC-SCC are deeply studied,and then an adaptive HEVC-SCC Palette Mode fast decision method is proposed.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Research on HEVC-SCC coding tools.In this paper,four coding tools including Intra Block Copy(IBC),Palette Mode(PLM),Adaptive Color Transform(ACT),and Adaptive Motion Vector Resolution(AMVR)were reviewed.(2)Research on the PLM.This paper mainly studied the palette table derivation,palette table coding,and palette index coding process.(3)Design of adaptive HEVC-SCC Palette Mode fast decision method.The DCT is used to judge the color complexity of the image.And the PLM is enabled or diabled based on the image complexity.(4)Experimental verification of the performance of the proposed algorithm.This paper design a game-video test sequence database,and the algorithm proposed in this paper is tested on the game database and the standard database.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can greatly decrease the encoding time with the coding quality almost unchanged.
