The scientific impact of scholars has been a hot topic concerned and researched by scholars in recent years. Most of the indicators use only the total number of citations of an article and produce a single number for scientific assessment of scholars.Although this concept is verysimple to compute,it fails to show the scientific productivity and impact of scholars during atime-span or in a year. Therefore, the analysis of how to use time series data to calculate time series indicator to evaluate scientific impact of scholars has a strong application value for academic research. We constructed a time series dataset based on the citations of scholars in the field of computer science and explored how to evaluate the scientific impact of individuals, and analyzed the relationship between the impact and the diversity of scholars.First,we constructed a benchmark dataset called ScholarSeqwhich contains 35,216 articles and 3,155,721 referenced data from 100 scholars to promote the study of impact assessment.Then,theS-index is proposed in this paper.S-index is based on the number of citations of all the papers of scholars, which improves the defects of information loss and low resolution of other indicators. After that,a new time seriesindex is proposed based on the S-index,S-index Sequence. The S-index Sequence is a vector, which can describe the change of scholars' scientific impact over time.In addition, wehave discussed a text-based method to quantify the diversity of scholars, which can effectively evaluate the diversity of scholars' research fields.Based on this,we defined the time series diversity of scholars,so as to reflect the evolution of topics diversity of scholars over time. Finally,we analyzed the relationship between the diversity of scholars' fields and their scientific impact. The analysis shows thatthe increasing diversity of eminent scholars in computer sciencefield contributes to the enhancement of their academic influence. This conclusion revealed the changing relationship between scholar's scientificimpact and scholar's diversity, and provides a reference for comprehensive evaluation of scholars' scientific impact.
