In the field of computer-aided design,research on the geometric features of 3D models have been extensively developed,and have plenty significant achievements.There have been few studies on model space partitioning in the past.The manufacturing mode of industrialized mass production has not been able to meet the growing needs.Personalization and high added value have become the dominant driving force of the market,therefore the space partitioning problem of complex models has gradually attracted researcher's attention.In this article,the porous structure based on the triply periodic minimal surface is applied to the study of model space partitioning.The triply periodic minimal surface(TPMS)has many advantages such as full connectivity,various types and controllability,which can well meet the needs of model space partitioning in terms of diversity and personalization.This article,which propose the space partitioning of the model based on the TPMS,can be divided into three parts: The first part investigates the research results of the TPMS in the field of model optimization design and CAD.The TPMS can be expressed by an implicit formula to spatially divide the model based on the TPMS.The storage and representation of the model can be expressed by functions.The properties and processing of model space partitioning based on TPMS are analyzed in part two.The influence of various parameters on model space partitioning is studied.For the practical needs in medical treatment,a bone model modeling method based on TPMS is proposed,the bone model obtained by this method has better mechanical properties and lighter weight.The third part presents some applications under different scenarios according to the properties of the space partitioning model.For the special properties of the model space partitioning,the applications in the fields of color 3D printing and space casting are considered.The models in this article do not require additional support,and their diversity and controllability is more suitable for individual design needs.
