Video information hiding is one of the research hotspots in the field of information security.By embedding secret information into the carrier video in a specific way,the secret transmission of important information is realized.Since the secret information hiding has little influence on the video visual quality,it is difficult for an attacker to discover the existence of the secret information,which can improve the security of the secret information.HEVC is a new generation coding standard for high-definition video compression,and will soon be widely used,so the video information hiding algorithm for HEVC videos has great application prospect.In this paper,an information hiding algorithm for HEVC videos based on PU partition modes has been proposed.Different PU partition modes in 32×32 and 16×16 CU blocks for HEVC inter prediction are used to represent different binary information,and the existence of hidden information does not affect the visual quality of the video.The experimental results illustrate that the proposed hiding algorithm has the advantage of little impact on video visual quality,but the embedding capacity of it is a little bit less than that of transform domain-based information hiding algorithm.Aiming at the issue of limited embedded capacity,an improved multi-level and large-capacity HEVC video information hiding algorithm based on PU partition modes has been proposed.It adds modifications in 8×8 and 64x64 CU blocks and four levels of embedding strategies can be flexibly selected based on the length of embedded information.After further experimental testing,the proposed improved algorithm preserves the good visual quality of embedded video,and by assigning the embedded strategy reasonably,the embedded capacity in high-definition video can be higher than that of the transform domain-based information hiding algorithm.Since the proposed video information hiding algorithm only needs to modify PU partition modes of HEVC P-picture,the modified video has good visual quality.With the increasing popularity of high-definition and ultra-high-definition video,the HEVC coding standard is bound to be widely used.In order to reduce the bandwidth occupied by high-definition video,using more P-picture instead of I-picture is an important way to further reduce redundant information.Therefore,compared with the algorithm based on transform domain and intra prediction mode that can only be embedded in I-picture,the two proposed HEVC video information hiding algorithms based on P-picture PU partition modes would be more suitable for high-definition video with high quality requirements.In the occasion of the realization of large-capacity secret information embedding,the algorithms proposed in this paper have strong practical application values.
