Citation information retrieval and analysis can be used in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of scientists,publications and scientific institutions,the simulation of historical development of science and technology,and the prediction of the subject structure and development trend.The users' demands are different.The librarians hope to induce the manual operations and repetitive work.The teaching and research staff hope to master their papers and citations for individual needs,such as the submission of scientific research projects,the awarding of research achievements,and so on.The research management personnel hope to collect and manage the papers and citations overall for evaluation and analysis.Citation information retrieval and analysis has always been a very tedious job that contains a lot of manual operations,and the results can't be used again.The university libraries should make full use of their advantages in retrieval practice,and develop an automation system to meet the individual needs of users.On the basis of the theory of knowledge chain and the citation theory,in consideration of users' needs and workflow,this paper proposes a citation retrieval and analysis automation system based on knowledge chain.The specific design for Web of Science is realized.The applicability of the theory of knowledge chain in the system design is analyzed.The design principles,the basic structure,function modules,the results are described.
