The digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises is an inevitable choice to conform to the digital economy trend and an important part of China's strategy of building a strong Internet country and implementing "Internet plus".The practice of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises has been carried out a lot,but the theoretical research is obviously lagging behind.“How can manufacturing enterprises achieve digital transformation"?The research of this problem needs to be studied urgently.Based on this background,this paper aims to answer two closely related theoretical questions:what are the typical pattern of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises?What is the ability to make a successful transition in each pattern?In this paper,biological metaphor,case study,qualitative text analysis,fsQCA and other research methods are combined to study the above two problems.Firstly,based on enterprise transformation theory,evolutionary economics and adaptability theory,this paper analyzes the intension and characteristics of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises and constructs its analysis framework.This paper holds that the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises is a process of using digital technology to transform existing products,business processes and business models,with characteristics of integration,great-leap-forward development and strong environmental dependence.As an enterprise's adaptation to the external environment,the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises is affected by the enterprise's adaptability,including four main dimensions:environmental scanning ability,market expansion ability,technological innovation ability and management innovation ability.Secondly,by induction deduction method,this paper,under the framework of epigenetic economic dynamic analysis,induces three patterns of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises:steady-state renewal pattern,combinatorial renewal pattern and marker renewal pattern by introducing biological metaphor.Combined with the three cases of LEO shares,Saint Angelo and Midea group,this paper further explains the three patterns and analyzes the similarities and differences between them.Finally,this paper selects 38 typical cases of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises in the three industries of Shoes&clothes industry,light industry and home appliance industry,and uses qualitative text evaluation and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA)to identify the adaptability configuration required for successful transformation of enterprises in each pattern.Under the steady-state renewal pattern,t+o capability configurations are identified:environmental scanning ability*market expansion ability*management innovation ability;Market expansion ability*technological innovation ability*management innovation ability.Under the combined update pattern,the ability of four dimensions should be possessed simultaneously.In the mark update pattern,there are two capability configurations:environmental scanning ability*low market expansion ability*technological innovation ability;Environmental scanning ability*technological innovation ability*management innovation ability.The main research contribution of this paper is to identify the typical pattern of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises and the required adaptability configuration.which is conducive to deepening the theoretical research of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises,and has positive significance for the theory of adaptability,epigenetic economic dynamics and so on.At the same time,this paper is also conducive to the selection of enterprise digital transformation pattern and the cultivation of corresponding ability,which has positive practical significance...
