Priori Information And Local Linear ELO Model With Application

ELO System is first derived from a key paper written by professor Arpad Elo,a famous Hungary Mathematician as well as a master-level chess player.The background of this issue is related to competitor-versus-competitor games: Chess.The aim of ELO algorithm is to find an effective way to Rating and Ranking all the chess players according to history data.As time passed by,there are more and more competitions nowadays which performance in different patterns.People come to realize that it is interesting and significant to rank and rate the players.Some of the famous methods are proposed by Massey(1997),Colley(2001)and Keener(1993).ELO rating system never fade out for its concise and elegant form.People have once changed the main hypothesis in the ELO rating algorithm and after that,ELO rating algorithm has been improved,extended and consummated.Even in some area like soft biometrics and education we can see the trace of ELO rating system.In our first two chapters,we'll introduce some basic knowledge about rating and ranking and take some famous rating and ranking algorithms for example.Next,we'll analyse some important parameters in the ELO rating algorithm in the way of simulation.In the chapter four,we'll solve a concrete issue by using ELO rating system.In the chapter five,we'll break the transferable rule,consider the local linear structure and extend the ELO rating system.Finally,we'll come to a conclusion and express the expectation of ELO rating system.
