With the continuous development of underwater acoustic communication technology, underwater acoustic communication has also developed from the original military field to civil fields. Therefore,in order to establish a high-performance underwater acoustic communication network,we should solve the point-to-point reliable communication, and more needs to be solved when multiple nodes on a share the underwater acoustic channel how to effectively transmit data. However, compared with terrestrial wireless communication, underwater acoustic communication has disadvantages such as narrow band, delay, high noise, limited energy, and serious interference. This makes the design of Media Access Control(MAC)protocol especially important for the establishment of high-performance underwater acoustic communication network.Existing MAC protocols are mainly divided into competing and fixed allocation channels. The competitive MAC protocol usually can only communicate with one node in a transmission cycle. In the case of multi-node communication, each communication node needs to enter its own transmission cycle.Since the underwater delay is large, this will make the channel Low utilization and reduced overall network performance. In the centralized network, the competitive MAC protocol can plan the sending time of other nodes through the central node,so that multiple nodes can communicate in parallel, but there is no central node in the distributed network, and it is difficult to achieve node time planning.Aiming at the above problems, this paper proposes a research on the MAC protocol of underwater acoustic network based on joint optimization of distributed node sending order and time. The research work of this paper is as follows:First, this paper analyzes the layered structure of underwater acoustic communication networks, and summarize the characteristics of underwater acoustic channel and underwater acoustic communication, and several factors that affect the performance of underwater acoustic communication are analyzed and summarized.Second,Introduces the existing some underwater acoustic network Media Access Control(MAC)protocol and based on NS-2 expand Aqua-sim simulation platform, and then simulations of some existing protocols are given, and analyzes their performance.Third, this paper proposes a MAC protocol based on sending time optimization for underwater acoustic networks(STSO).The protocol can optimize the order of sending data from multiple source nodes in the transmission cycle and reasonably calculate the time of sending data of each source node according to the optimized sending order. In this way, parallel communication of multiple nodes can be implemented in one transmission cycle, thereby shortening the entire transmission. The time required for the cycle increases the utilization of the channel and the overall performance of the network.Fourth, the simulation of the STSO protocol was implemented on the Aqua-Sim simulation platform, and compared with the existing MAC protocol of underwater acoustic communication network, and the performance analysis was carried out.Simulation results show that the STSO protocol can effectively improve transmission efficiency, has a good overall performance, suitable for high load of large-scale network,is a quick way to realize the node through competition channel parallel communication method.
