Visible light communication(VLC)is considered a green communication technology that is developed in light emitting diode technology. It can alleviate the current situation of tight bandwidth resources in wireless communications. The multi-input multi-output(MIMO)technology of the conventional wireless communication can provides space diversity to achieve the high transmission data rate, therefore it has been introduced into the VLC system recently. However, the interference between channels in the VLC system may severely degrade the system performance. As a result, the precoding design is introduced to eliminate the interference where the precoder combines the modulated data information with the channel state information through a matrix operation, and transforms the data into a data stream before the transmission. The precoding design can effectively prevent the spread of error codes, thereby improving the transmission quality and improving the reliability of the system. This paper first introduces the VLC system and MIMO technology, investigates the motivation of the implementation of the MIMO and the precoder, establishes the MIMO VLC transmission scheme, and realizes the OOK(de)modulation, and space-time coding based on Lab VIEW platform. In order to improve the transmission quality of the VLC transmission, two types of the precoding are implemented in LabVIEW,that is zero forcing(ZF)precoding and minimum mean square error(MMSE)precoding. With respect to the BER performance, the system with the precoding technique can achieve low BER compared with that without the precoders.
