With the continuous increase of population and the lack of energy,the environment and resources are getting more and more serious.People gradually shift their sights to the sea.The exploration and development of the ocean has gradually become the focus of domestic and foreign scholars.Learning more about underwater imaging information can provide powerful guidance for the development of the ocean.There are many ways to obtain underwater information,but optical imaging has other advantages that cannot be compared.Due to the optical properties of the water,the quality of the underwater image is degraded seriously,and underwater images often have problems such as color shift and unclearness.The main goal of this paper is to enhance the underwater images,improve their visual effects,highlight the effective information in the images,and make the enhanced underwater images adapt to machine recognition.The work of this article mainly includes the following points:First,the transmission characteristics of light under water were analyzed.It was kowned that the reason for the degradation of underwater image quality was the absorption and scattering of light by water.The effects of scattering effects are similar to those in fog imaging in the atmosphere.Therefore,we have studied several effective fog image enhancement algorithms and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm through simulation experiments.Secondly,aiming at the problem of underwater image quality degradation,this paper proposes an underwater image enhancement algorithm combined with a defogging algorithm and a color correction algorithm.First,the defogging algorithm in the atmosphere is improved to adapt it to the underwater imaging environment.Because the water absorption characteristics of different wavelengths of light are different,different RGB channels will correspond to different transmittance maps.We use cluster-related theoretical knowledge and coordinate transformation theory to solve the optimal transmission.A simple and effective compensation algorithm is proposed for underwater image color shift problem,which successfully solves the problem of color aberration in underwater images.Third,comparing with the existing enhancement methods for underwater images,we found that our experimental results can effectively improve the underwater image quality and improve the visual effects of the images.
