A Comparative Study Of Handwritten Character Recognition Algorithms In New Tai Lue

There are many ethnic minorities that lived in remote places of China,whose languages and characters developing relatively slowly because technology lagged behind locally,and Dai minority is no exception.At present,Most of the Dai people lived in Xishuangbanna and the study of handwritten character recognition of new Tai Lue is much less than those of Chinese characters,Uighur characters,Tibetan characters.Dai nationality also created splendid culture,which is an important part of our national culture.The study on handwritten character recognition which is a way of Inheriting and carrying forward is good for transmission and accelerates the information process of the Dai language,which greatly facilitating the local people's life.The main work of this paper is to compare support vector machine which is a shallow learning method and Convolutional neural network which is a deep learning method.The principal work of the first method includes the collection of handwritten sample characters,preprocessing,the feature extraction of Gabor filter,PCA reduction and the recognition by support vector machine.The second method is mainly to set up the environment needed for deep learning operation.In this paper,the Keras software is used as the deep learning framework to construct the convolutional neural network to recognize the handwriting New Tai Lue character.Finally,the experimental results are as follows: the recognition rate of handwritten New Tai Lue characters reaches 87.0782% by using the LIBSVM Library of support vector machine,and the recognition rate of handwritten New Tai Lue characters is up to 93.47% with the convolution neural network built by Keras software.These two methods have achieved the desired results for the recognition of handwritten New Tai Lue characters,indicating that the two methods of recognition are effective,especially better in the second method.The research on handwriting New Tai Lue character recognition is still in its infancy,and a lot of effort should be put in the future.In this paper,two methods are used to identify the handwritten characters of the New Tai Lue,which provides a reference for the future study of it.
