Software Defined Networking(SDN)is a new networking paradigm,with a great potential to increase network efficiency,ease the complexity of net work control and management,and accelerate the rate of technology innovation.One of the core concepts of SDN is the separation of the net work's control and data plane.Compared with the traditional network,the intelligence and the control of the network operation and management is removed from the forwarding elements(switches),and these elements only focus on the forwarding of data.Then routing,resource allocation and the discovery of topology etc of the network are centrally integrated into a network operating system,SDN controller.In this way,the control and forwarding of network data flow is separated,the software of network control not only make network traffic control more flexible but also make network management more intelligent.OpenFlow is the core technology in software defined network.The concept of OpenFlow was proposed by Professor Nick McKeown of Stanford University in April2008,aiming at solving the contradictions of idea of network innovation can only be verified in the actual network operation and Network researchers can't directly modify online equipment.The current OpenFLow has already developed to a degree witch is better to modify online network devices from software levels.It not only provide convenience for online students or other researchers to learn and innovate network technology,but also promote the flourishing development of SDN.Studying and researching current official OpenFlow protocol,OFDP based on Link Layer Discovery Protocol and Ryu controller based on Python language,using the algorithm of multipurpose address broadcast,in view of the shortcomings of the current software defined network controller in the network topology discovery mechanism,such as large resource consumption and redundant data,two steps to improve the mechanism are put forward in this article.The new protocol not only greatly reduce the number of LLDP packets generated and sent by the SDN controller in the network topology discovery process,but also greatly eliminate the redundant data produced in the process of topology discovery by using the link characteristicsbetween network devices.This improves the overall operational efficiency of the controller while reducing the effect of the load of the software defined network controller.
