During the course of the long human history,epidemic has great destructive power,also it is associated with our daily life.As epidemic is endowed with multi special meaning and get response from politics,it can be served as a new approach to observe national techniques of governing and further discuss the core values of society.This paper discusses how the state media imagine,explain and construct Pulmonary tuberculosis at different times in Chinese history in order to observe social features in important historic turning points.Results showed that the reports of People Daily on Pulmonary tuberculosis have different features periodically since the founding of this country.First,different historical periods have focused on the issues of reporting.Secondly,the types of news have generally been news style oriented.Other types focus on a certain stage,for example,commentary was mainly distributed in the early days of the people's Republic of China;third,the use of news sources was dominated by two types of authority,the government system and journalists.The proportion of the World Health Organization(WHO)tends to increase with the increase of the year;in 4th,with the change of the country's foreign policy,the reporting area changes from closed to open,that is,from domestic to global.Finally,the tone of the report is generally positive.But neutral reporting is becoming dominant.The results showed above identified four dominant frames in the coverage:politics,figures,science,and information.Underlying these frames,the Pulmonary tuberculosis is labelled with multi-definitions,they are the construction of the legitimacy of the regime,the concept of class struggle,the construction of the imagine of modern country,the idea of First Development and reconstruction of government functions in post-SARS period.It concluded that the construction of disease in coverage of People Daily reflected leading ideology changed over time.During the initial stage of new China the support of socialism is vital,then is the class struggle,until to 1978 modernization became first,and the development of productive force and market economy was leading trend in the next 20 years.Into the Millennium,people-oriented thought became Social basic values.
