How to present visual information effectively and intuitively is becoming immediate areas of research focus in engineering psychology.On the basis of optimized visual information presentation,combining new human-computer interaction methods,is an important research direction to improve the intuition and performance of information presentation.Focus-context display is a popular visual display technique which displaying the focus within the context in order to optimize information presentation and facilitate users' information processing,which still unable to meet the user's personalized operating characteristics.Fortunately,interactive display has been proposed recently to solve this problem.Researchers use multi-channel,multimedia,and intelligent interaction methods to improve the naturalness of user operations.For example,the use of gaze tracking technology can make the use of user's eye movement information to complete more efficient and natural interaction in the computer environment.This study proposed a new interactive display technology named eyecontrolled based focus-context technique by combining eye-controlled based interaction technology and focus-context display,which show assistive information dynamically and in real-time based on the sight of the operator,in order to help users deal with massive amount of information efficiently and naturally.The present study contained of three experiment: in Experiment 1 we compared three different type of text-presentation: in traditional way,in eye-controlled based focus-context technique and in hand-controlled based focus-context technique,aim to investigate the validity of eye-controlled based focus-context technique;in experiment 2 we explored the response time of context auxiliary message in eye-controlled based focus-context technique,aim to investigate how ‘Midas Touch' problem acting on our technique;in experiment 3 we applied eye-controlled based focus-context technique into a multiple context auxiliary message reading task,and investigated the effect of eye-controlled based focus-context technique on more practical reading situation.The study showed the following main conclusion:1.Focus-context technique helps to achieve better reading performance;2.Eye-controlled based focus-context technique surpass hand-controlled based focus-context technique in reading task;3.Eye-controlled based focus-context technique works best when the response time of context auxiliary message around 400ms;4.Eye-controlled based focus-context technique does not surpass traditional reading significantly in multiple context auxiliary message reading task.
