With the development of technology,the application of virtual reality and computer simulation technology in many areas becomes more widespread,with the deepening of the application of virtual reality technology,the true extent of the requirements of the virtual scene also will be higher,and in this requirement under the screen but also to ensure fluency,LOD(LOD model)technology is an effective way to solve this problem.This paper first analyzes the conventional classical LOD simplified algorithm,take an deep study in LOD technology for application scenarios,the working principle and the use method.Depend on this basis,I made an improved for the widely used LOD model generation algorithm which based on quadtree.In the beginning,put the terrain nodes into the linear quadtree.Used the decimal-based Morton code to encoded the quadtree terrain nodes so as to have a unique index information.Before terrain nodes access,use the Hilbert curve to fill all terrain nodes in order to reduce the time cost during the node accessing.Build an view-dependent structure node evaluation mechanisms to determine whether to continue dividing the terrain node.For the cracks which produce due to the different levels of segmentation between the adjacent terrain and use delete point method to eliminate these cracks.Then the paper introduced the three-dimensional visualization of terrain simulation theory.Construction of a large-scale scene that used the improved LOD algorithm,after testing and analysis the experimental data,and compared to the conventional LOD algorithms find the the improved algorithm's efficiency has been significantly improved.
