With real-time live video becoming a new trend,live streaming industry,which allows people to have real-time communication,has developed fast.Real-time live streaming,especially game live streaming,has become one of the most important online community due to the development of new technology such as VR and AR.Excellent games usually show the exploration of real history,human world and different value,which can help improve communication between different culture.Based on social identity theory,collectivism and individualism dimension,this article adopts the research approach of Netnography and participatory observation,compare the difference and similarity of Twitch and Douyu.com,which separately are the most popular game live-streaming community in the US and China.Through that,this article found out that group loyalty of members of douyu.com is more influenced by subjective socio-metric knowledge.Members in Douyu.com of China value intra-group relationship.Instead,group identity of members of Twitch is more influenced by perceived group status and in-group homogeneity.Members in Twitch of the United State value intergroup status,in-group homogeneity.Due to the influence of collectivism and individualism,this article also found out that the community design of Douyu.com and Twitch is different in five dimensions,including newcomer socialization,topic discussion,community size,core members and subgroups.All in all,this article compares game live-streaming community of China and the United State,tries to deeply understand live-streaming community from the cross-cultural perspective of collectivism and individualism,which can provide suggestions for future study on cross-cultural live streaming community.
