In the 21 st century,the global energy and environmental problems have drawn much attention of people.Increased energy consumption in households is attracting many researchers to seek efficient solutions for the home energy management.These solutions can mitigate the global energy and environmental problems to some extent by improving the efficiency of energy use,promoting the use of renewable energy,and reducing energy consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions.This thesis focuses on the optimization of household energy use and home appliances scheduling.A static and a dynamic scheduling algorithms are proposed in this thesis which are applicable to the HEMS(Home Energy Management System,HEMS).Both of them are to shift the running time of home appliances to lower tariff periods,and to avoid the peak period of energy use.In this way,it can improve the safety of power grid,and reduce electricity consumption in home.The aim of the two algorithms is to save the electricity cost while meeting users' comfort requirements.Firstly,based on the estimated error of power generation forecast,a static forecast-error Home Energy Management(fHEM)scheduling algorithm is proposed,which is used for the home energy optimization.The algorithm utilizes a mathematical programming model to generate a scheduling for appliances.It allocates the appropriate running time to the appliances in order to minimize the electricity expense.In addition,the prediction error of PV power generation is considered in the fHEM,which can help to reduce home energy consumption and electricity cost comparing with some exiting methods.Secondly,an expense-aware Home Energy Dynamic Management(eHEDM)scheduling algorithm is proposed for energy optimization.The algorithm can limit the total power consumption in any time according to the required demand response.Once a power-on request is received,the eHEDM algorithm will response in real time and schedule related appliances to run or shut down.In order to meet the users' satisfaction,the algorithm delays the start time of appliances based on users' expectations.When an appliance needs to be powered off so as to meet the demand limitation,the algorithm will firstly search and power off appliances which have satisfied users' requirements.If the demand limitation cannot be met,the algorithm will power off other appliances one by one according to their priorities until thepower limitation is satisfied.The algorithm will schedule the appliances as the users' required running time when no requests are received.Both of the scheduling algorithms consider the users' power need,the properties of different appliances as well as the demand limit of the power company.They can reduce electricity cost while meeting users' comfort requirements.While the static algorithm is suitable for the stable power load,the dynamic one is used for the variable load.The simulation results validated the effectiveness of the algorithms.
