Emergent thinking refers to the way of thinking about problems about nature of emergence.Emergent property refers to that the whole property is not only the sum of parts.In the field of chemistry education,the study of emergent thinking can help teachers to find that students often have wrong solutions in solving chemistry problems due to thinking inertia in the actual teaching process of middle school,while few teachers pay attention to it.This paper discusses the relevant concepts of emergent thinking in chemistry,constructs the horizontal framework of emergent thinking in chemistry,generalizes the characteristics of emergent thinking in chemistry into three dimensions: continuity dimension,downward causation dimension and interactivity dimension.This paper divides each dimension into four levels according to specific thinking performance.According to the constructed thinking characteristic level framework,the corresponding testing tools were compiled to evaluate the emergent thinking level of junior high school students before and after learning chemistry.Literature research method,questionnaire survey method,mathematical statistics method and individual interview method were used to study the characteristics of the emergent thinking ability of junior high school students before and after learning chemistry.Before the junior high school students study chemistry discipline,the cultivation of the science study does not train emergent ideas.After studying chemistry for a year,the study concluded that the emergent thinking is growing.But students' continuity dimension is still particularly weak.There are significant differences in the quality of emergent thinking among students with different learning abilities,while the influence of gender on students' emergent thinking quality can be almost ignored.The study aims to apply emergent thinking to chemistry teaching,which provides new theoretical support for the cultivation of students' way of chemistry thinking.
