The Chinese Curriculum,one of the most important curricula on the phase of compulsory education in China,plays a pivotal role in carrying forward Chinese culture and enhancing students' identification with the national culture.It is a unificatory curriculum of integration and language.It is also of supreme importance to carry out the policy of cultivating people with virtue and culture.Integrated Chinese Study(ICS for short),an integral part of the Chinese Curriculum and an important block of the existing Chinese textbooks,is an ideal platform of realizing the unification of integration and language.However,not enough attention has been given to its importance in daily Chinese language teaching;in many schools,ICS teaching is merely a formality,failing to achieve its pre-set goals.It is worthwhile to explore ways to take advantage of this platform to realize the unificatory function of the Chinese Curriculum,to improve students' language proficiency,to enhance their identification with the national culture,and to increase national unity.This research attempts to link Anhui regional cultural resources(ARCRs for short)to the daily teaching practice of ICS,utilizing ARCRs to carry out the teaching practice of ICS,in hope of providing a set of systematic utilization principles,strategies and approaches so as to realize the pre-set goals of the Chinese Curriculum.This thesis consists of six parts,just as follows:The first part is an introduction to the research,including its reason,significance,methodology,and a literature review on the topic.Chapter One tries to delimit the concept of ICS and provides information about the ICS blocks in the Chinese Textbook compiled by the Education Ministry of China,to facilitate the analysis in the chapters to follow.The Second Chapter is a sort-out of the excellent ARCRs,and the significance of utilizing them for education.Chapter Three is the key part of this research.Based on statistical analyses,it offers a thorough elaboration on the grounds,principles,strategies,approaches and four sets of relationships to which attention should be given.It suggests that,based on the specific conditions concerning the application of the excellent ARCRs,three strategies be employed.If ARCRs have been elaborated,it is advisable to provide more detailedinformation related to them;if ARCRs have been cited but not elaborated,it is important to dig out more important and detailed information involved;and if ARCRs are neither elaborated nor mentioned but is suitable for their utilization,it is natural to link ARCRs with the ICS and employ them directly.Meanwhile,this Chapter also provides four approaches to the utilization of ARCRs in the implementation of ICS practice,including Internet platform construction,on-the-spot investigation,personal practice,and literature search.Based on the integration of these approaches,Chapter Four provides four teaching designs corresponding to the three strategies expounded in the previous part,so as to show how to utilize ARCRs in carrying out the teaching and learning of ICS block in the textbook of Chinese.The last part is a conclusion,supplying brief information about the limitations of this research and a further orientation for the researcher.
