With the development of economic globalization and the arrival of the information age,science and technology are advancing by leaps and bounds.The economic,political and cultural exchanges between countries around the world are becoming increasingly frequent.The internationalization of higher education has received widespread attention,and all countries have included the cultivation of international talents into their development strategies.Canadian higher education has developed rapidly since World War II,and now it has successfully ranked among the top universities in the century.Canada has become one of the countries with high degree of internationalization of higher education in the world.Canada has accumulated rich experience in the process of internationalization of higher education,formed a development strategy of internationalization of higher education with its own characteristics,and has a good reputation internationally.From the perspective of historical development,this paper uses the literature method and historical research method to divide the development process of Canadian higher education internationalization after World War II.This paper mainly discusses the background and related policies and practices of the internationalization development of higher education in each stage,and summarizes the reference and existing problems of the internationalization development of Canadian higher education.Some lessons to learn,aiming to provide some reference for the internationalization development of higher education in China.The formation and development of Canadian higher education internationalization are affected by many aspects such as politics,economy,and culture.It is mainly divided into three stages: starting,vigorous development,and in-depth development.In the development process,Canada attaches importance to the continuous improvement of the international policy system,emphasizes the establishment of its own international education brand image,pays attention to the key education market for international students,and made substantial progress.However,there are also some problems in its development process,such as insufficient attention to teachers in international development,insufficient funds,and the lack of a national higher education internationalization department.All these are worthy of our further research and thinking,and put forward some enlightenments for the international development of higher education in China.
